John Marriot´s Top 5 Cafes in Banff and Canmore – a Locals Tips
John Marriot´s Top 5 cafes in Banff and Canmore
Sometimes it is too easy to fall into the tourist trap of settling for whatever cafe is closest. Banff and Canmore is home to some of the best cafes around and who better to advise you then the Rockies’ resident photographer John Marriot. Here are his five favourite cafes…
1. Communitea Cafe
The local hotspot in Canmore. This has large space, couches, lounge chairs and tables, excellent healthy food and the best collection of teas in the Rockies.
2. Evelyn’s
Evelyn´s has two locations in Banff and it is the best of the best in Banff cafes. It really has great coffee. This is where the locals go! They do great chicken sandwiches and bagged lunches for hikers and daytrippers.
3. Beamer’s
This is in Canmore. It has two locations, great coffee, small, but good atmosphere.
4. The Bagel Co
This is on the main street in Canmore and has to be the best bagels in the Rockies. The coffee is great too and there is a nice small patio to enjoy it also.
5. The UN-five
As in, yes, there is a Starbucks in both Banff and Canmore, but do yourself a favour and try a real cafe with real coffee. Sorry, but Starbucks just doesn’t measure up against these other four great cafes which feature better coffee, better food, and a far more local flavour.
