Whitewater raft the Kicking Horse near Banff

BANFF, Alberta – Okay mates, everybody is always emailing me about “what are some fun things to do around Banff?” Well, there are plenty and I am your local guide who swigs good Canadian beer and a man who has a thirst for some adventure.

If you love a rush and love the thrill of whitewater rafting, Banff National Park is your place…..well sort of.

Just 1.5 hours a way or 2 hours from Canmore, you can get the thrill of the Kicking Horse River. There is nothing like it! These rivers are not for the faint of heart or those who suffer a wee bit of motion sickness. The scenery is breath taking and glacier water is really cold. Glacier water has an extra chill to it so bring some extra gear. The Kicking Horse is not one of your wimpy streams from back home.

Wildwater Adventures (888-647-6444) and Kootenay River Rafters (800-599-4399) are two of the official companies who provide trips. They provide you with gear as well.

I’m headed out. Today is my day where I grab a bike and run around the Canadian Rockies. I’m going broke, but that doesn’t mean I cheap out on the adventure.
